Volunteer Opportunities Near Our Apartments for Rent in Tulsa

apartments for rent in tulsa teamwork

It’s easy to get so wrapped up in our busy day-to-day lives that we don’t always think about how we can be helping others. But we’d love to take this opportunity to encourage residents of our luxury apartments in Tulsa to consider volunteering some of their free time every now and then to an organization that gives back to our Tulsa community! There are lots of people, animals, and environments in need of assistance in Tulsa and beyond, and by volunteering just a little bit of your free time, you can make a difference! Today, we’re talking about a few worthy Tulsa organizations you can volunteer with.

If you have someone you’d like to volunteer within our community of apartments for rent in Tulsa, go ahead and share this post with them and start the conversation! Now let’s talk volunteer opportunities, shall we?

Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma

The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma helps provide food and groceries to 360 partner agencies in eastern Oklahoma, including food pantries, emergency shelters, soup kitchens, after-school programs, and senior citizen centers. Oklahoma consistently ranks as one of the top states in the US for the number of people suffering from hunger, so volunteering your time and energy with this organization helps a lot of people in need!

Volunteers can help out by assembling meals in the Culinary Center, sorting donated food at the Food Bank, tending the Food Bank’s onsite garden, or assisting with events. Volunteers may be as young as 11, though volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Meals on Wheels

You’ve probably heard of Meals on Wheels, but in case you haven’t, this non-profit program also helps provide meals to people in need, especially low-income seniors. The non-profit has programs throughout the United States, and it’s easy to volunteer for just a couple hours out of your day. Volunteers typically need to use their own cars to deliver meals, however, so if you (or a friend you’re volunteering with) don’t have access to a car, there may be other opportunities that are better for you.

Tulsa SPCA

If you’re passionate about animals, then volunteering at the Tulsa SPCA might be perfect for you. Volunteers at the Tulsa SPCA can help socialize dogs and cats, work as receptionists, keep facilities clean, teach kids how to care for pets, and lots more.

Volunteers do need to go through one or more orientation programs depending on what they want to help with, but all training is provided free of charge and only takes about an hour or two. The Tulsa SPCA can also support volunteers as young as 9, though volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult and volunteer 16-17 may only volunteer on their own after a parent or guardian has attended orientation and any other necessary training with them.

Up With Trees

You’ve probably seen the Up With Trees signs around town, but in case you don’t know what this organization does, it’s a group devoted to planting and maintaining trees around Tulsa as well as providing education about urban forestry. Volunteers can help with planting, pruning, mulching, and watering trees, building and painting the wooden signs that are placed around town, or educating youth and adults about trees, green initiatives, and urban forestry.
